Psychoanalytic theories and techniques:
dialogue, difficulties and future.
Psychoanalysis has evolved throughout its more than 100 years to form a complex discipline, which includes very different proposals and leads to heterogeneous theoretical approaches and clinical approaches. We could say that we are united by the work of Freud, the starting point for our development, and an intense attention to the functioning of the unconscious and the transference. Certainly it is possible and necessary to go deeper into the knowledge of the different points of view, especially in a diverse Federation like ours.
Sharing the different visions can lead us to know and use concepts that enrich our clinical and theoretical work. It is not easy, but it is certainly necessary. What we do in this regard is going to have a powerful influence on the future of our work. Psychoanalysis remains today a deeply necessary theory and practice to understand the inner world of people and to address human suffering. We trust that the meeting in Madrid can be a further step on this difficult and exciting path.
